From a small product range to a more involved online shop, the right setup depends on what you sell and how you run your business. Tell us about your products, payments, stock, delivery and any systems you need to connect.
Ecommerce is scoped and quoted separately, not included as standard in our website packages. We will discuss suitable options and explain the build cost, ongoing platform costs and payment-provider fees before you commit. An online shop may need managed services, a backend or customer accounts; the static-site benefits described below do not apply to every ecommerce setup.
Discuss your online shop →We recommend buying your domain through your own registrar account, with you or your business named as the registrant. You control the account and renewals; we can help with DNS and connecting it to your website.
Your domain is yours from day one, including on a monthly website plan. That makes changing providers simpler. You do not have to obtain ownership of your domain from us first.
Pay up front and, once the build is paid for, you own the website from launch. On a pay-monthly plan, the website remains the property of Obsessive Software until the agreement is paid in full.
You can move the website build to another provider once it is fully paid for and ownership and files have transferred. Owning the domain does not cancel the website payment agreement.
Once you own the build, you can arrange alternative hosting. Any remaining notice period, hosting or support commitments still follow your agreement. Third-party services and licences may need separate arrangements with their providers.
No WordPress, no plugins, no CMS logins. Fewer moving parts, less to maintain, less to attack.
No WordPress plugin updates, plugin compatibility issues or plugin vulnerabilities to manage on the static site.
Without a CMS login, there are no website-editor passwords or WordPress admin accounts for attackers to target.
Static pages can be cached and served without generating each page through a CMS database. This supports fast loading and simpler hosting, although images, scripts and integrations still affect performance.
This reduces the attack surface; it does not make a website unhackable. Domain, hosting and deployment accounts still need protection, and code and dependencies still need care. Contact forms, payments, bookings, portals and custom software may use backend services, databases or user accounts. We explain what your particular project needs rather than promising a backend-free solution for everything.
No CMS also means no built-in editing dashboard. On a managed plan, send us your content changes and we make them within your package allowance. If self-editing matters to you, we will discuss a suitable content-management option and its maintenance needs.
